29: World Cup 70+ AB 2018
World Cup 70+
Invitation to Football (Soccer) in Copenhagen, Denmark
June 14-16, 2018
Akademisk Boldklub (AB) would like to invite teams from all over the World to a tournament for players aged 70+ (with possibility for up to 3 players per team aged 68-69).
We would suggest that players (and spouses) arrive early week 24 (starting Monday, June 11) to also have the possibility to play training matches against AB or other Danish clubs during the week and prior to the official tournament.
AB will host the event at our training facilities at: Skovbrynet 1, 2880 Bagsværd close to Copenhagen and Skovbrynet train station and also with easy access by car.
This invitation is mailed to our friends in USA and Japan by Kim Bergenser but we urge you to forward it to Clubs in other countries/cities that may have an interest in joining these friendly matches.
We are exploring through DBU (The Danish Football Association) whether FIFA has knowledge of other countries that may have 70+ players organized in clubs.
And we introduce this event as the first World Cup for clubs with 70+ players – the timing coincide with the Russian event – and may be the start of an ongoing event in other countries each year.
Further details as to rules and accomodations (at own expense) will be forwarded to interested parties, so please let us know if you have an interest in joining this event?
We have asked for an amount of DKK 600 or USD 100 to be paid by each team by March 1, to cover tournament costs including a free beer or soft drink at the end of every match day. So please use the following Nordea account in the name of Sten Lawaetz:
– Account number 2343 6897112920
– IBAN DK3320 00 6897 112920
Further, there will be possibilities to buy lunch at the restaurant which will be open during the events – and we expect to finish with a dinner on Saturday, June 16 also in the restaurant.
That day is also special since the Danish National Team at 18:00 Danish time will play their first match (against Peru) at the World Championship in Russia, so we will have a big screen to be able to follow the event, after the matches and prior to the dinner.
We will ask for a binding registration to reach us no later than March 1, 2018, and soon thereafter we will finalize the tournament schedule including length of matches etc.
We look forward to have you here and to hear from the remaining clubs whether they may be able to send a full team or would send individual players that could team up with the many players who have already indicated a desire to join a combined team.
We look forward to hearing from you by mail to John Andersen at: firstname.lastname@example.org
